If a child says Roblox chat has disappeared, do not assume the app is broken. Roblox began requiring age checks for communication features in 2026, and different chat types have different requirements.
A linked parent setting, age group, region or the game creator can also remove the option.
Check the linked parent controls
Open the child from the parent dashboard and review Communication. Look separately at experience chat, direct chat, Party chat and private-server permissions where they appear.
Changing a control does not override a minimum age or age-check requirement. The setting only grants access where Roblox makes that feature eligible.
Confirm the account details
Make sure the date of birth is correct. Do not enter an older age to unlock chat, as this weakens protections and can create problems when the account later needs verification.
Roblox may offer facial age estimation or an identity document for age checks, depending on region and account. Read the privacy explanation before choosing a method.
Compare another game and Roblox status
Some creators disable chat or use only preset messages. Test a known game with communication enabled before changing account-wide settings.
If chat suddenly fails everywhere, check Roblox status and update the app. Contact Roblox Support if the account appears eligible and the controls still do not work.
Keep restrictions in place while investigating. A missing button is not a reason to enter a false birthday or borrow another person's verified account.
