If your child plays Roblox, there's a good chance they've already come across Ronald's Restaurant.
Last weekend, between 24 and 26 April, over 20,000 people played Ronald's. Players logged more than 36,000 hours across those three days, and 15,000 new players joined. At any point on Saturday or Sunday, around 120 players were in the game at the same time.
What kids actually do in the game
Ronald's is a roleplay game based around running a fast food restaurant. Kids pick a role, like cashier, chef, or manager, and work together to keep the place running. They take orders, prepare food, and serve customers. It sounds simple, but there's enough going on that players have to cooperate and communicate to get things done.
The average session is just over 10 minutes. Kids tend to come back repeatedly rather than playing one long stretch and moving on, which says something about how the game is put together.
Is it safe?
Ronald's has over 300,000 community members, so it's a fair question. The game has active moderation and runs on Roblox's platform, which includes chat filters and parental controls you can set through your child's account settings. The game is built around cooperation rather than competition, and the environment is fairly calm compared to a lot of what's on Roblox. It's not completely drama-free, but no online space with thousands of kids ever is.
Does it cost anything?
Ronald's is free to play. There are optional items available, but nothing is locked behind a purchase. Your child can take on every role and join every activity without spending a thing. If they do ask about buying something, it goes through the standard Roblox process, so any spending limits you've set on their account apply here too.
