Roblox may change a message before other players see it. Its chat system can rephrase some rude or uncivil language into calmer words instead of replacing everything with hashtags.
The changed sentence is not a free pass. Roblox says the original attempt can still count as a violation, and the sender may receive a notice explaining that it was rephrased.
Why Roblox rephrases messages
A wall of #### can make a conversation impossible to understand. Rephrasing tries to keep the useful meaning while removing language likely to start an argument.
For example, an angry insult may become a short disagreement. The exact output depends on the sentence and the languages the system supports.
The original message still matters
Moderation systems can consider what you tried to send, not only the softer version shown in chat. Repeated attempts to insult or bypass the filter can still lead to account action.
Do not keep changing spellings to force a blocked word through. That normally gives the system more evidence that the message was intentional.
When the rewrite is wrong
Automatic systems can misunderstand slang, names or harmless sentences. If the new version changes the meaning, write the message again in plain words rather than arguing with the filter.
Use Roblox's reporting or feedback tools for a serious error. Never include personal information in the explanation or try to test the filter with harmful phrases.
